ewwww. Luckily the Maguras have a quick release mechanism that makes the clean up easier. My Time Aliums worked like a charm though...no dancing the "Shimano-stomp" for me!

here's a mystery dirt jumper with a lot of guts- aside from trying to pull off a no-footer, he also tried a 360 degree rotation (no, not a backflip). no doubt being young is an advantage - especially when you gotta heal

thie dirt jump competition was pretty fun too. too bad not a lot of jumpers registered (I think they balked at the reg fee). Joey Barba gets some major air here, that's a mall in the background, not an obstacle.

it's inevitable that there will be some comings-together. Here two riders kinda got in each others way. Who's fault was it? Neither! That's racing for you!

To maintain your speed through the corners, it may be necessary to ride the berms. It may seem like a longer line to take, but it allows you to keep your momentum. Here Joey Barba is in the clear, after getting aholeshot at the start.

mountaincross

Mountaincross is a hell-bent for leather, BMX-style race where 4 riders go handlebar to handlebar. The course was tight, with potential for lots of contact and crashes. If you get the holeshot at the start, you're more or less assured of the win, unless you get sloppy.

the Tingle at the Fort

Last weekend was the second installment of Sabak Sports' three-leg mountain bike race, held at the Fort. Aside from a short-track cross-country event, there was mountaincross and other crowd-pleasers such as dirtjumping and the longest wheelie.

More importantly, it was a tribal gathering of sorts, where different riders on different bikes can just hang out and have fun. I was the only SS cross-country dude there, but hopefully that may change soon.

I knew I should have brougth along a camera for the first leg, which surprisingly had more attendees. Hopefully the crowd will be in full-force for the final day, in two weeks' time.
